Mr. & Mrs. Basic

I am always curious to know what are my clients views of wedding after they tie the knot. Is it quite what they were expected? This is from Kristie’s new Mrs. Basic! I thank you very much Chris and Kristie for allowing me to be part of your day! May God continue on blessing your marriage.
Marriage is pretty much what I was expecting it to be, if not better. You’re never bored because you live with your best friend! You are not judged by the way you look, talk, or act, and how close you become to that one person is amazing. You definitely have to be willing to compromise, but when you find what is really important, marriage is pure bliss. In the short experience we have had so far, we have found that praying together often and letting God be in charge has led us to great things.

We are Toussaint Wedding Photographer and we are located in the Philadelphia region; we also do boudoir, fashion and pregnancy pictures. Feel free to reach out to us today for prices!

Ema & Matt

Emily and Matt met at the welcome day for the Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University, hitting it off famously with an exchange of witty banter. Their relationship grew into a warm friendship through Cornell International Christian Fellowship, frequent trips to the campus coffee shop, and with some healthy pressure from Matt, as leaders in the Bethel Grove Bible Church youth group. As they began spending more and more time together, it became apparent to Matt that his feelings were no longer merely platonic.
But the relationship was not to be without some heartache, as Emily had a boyfriend of two years, then living at a distance. It took time, but eventually Emily came to realize that she too had feelings for Matt that went beyond pure friendship, and had to make the difficult decision to end her relationship in order to move forward with Matt. A little over a month later and with some frank disagreements about whether they were or were not “dating”, Matt and Emily got together just before Christmas. continue at the end of post

The celebration was short-lived, as Emily went to be with family in the UK for Christmas and Matt went back home in Canada. But absence did make the heart grow fonder, and upon return to Ithaca, the icy blasts of January encouraged staying indoors for long nights of hot tea, puzzles, and cozy cuddling. The love once kindled began to fan into flame, and it was not long after that the thought of getting married became a topic of regular conversation. After making the proper family introductions, Matt and Emily were engaged on April 23, 2011, and eagerly await their wedding on December 17. The celebration will take place at Cornell University campus! Toussaint Wedding Photographer from the mainline and in philadelphia will be honor to be at your special day Ema and Matt. Congrats on behalf of your up coming wedding.

Pledge to rebuild my High School

I received a call from my school director last Saturday from Florida. They were very fortunate to be among the schools that did not collapse. The founder of the school is reaching out to all of his alums to help them reopen by late April. They are trying to raise $30,000.00 to reopen the school. Besides having professors and staff who did not make it out of the earthquake, there are also a lot of students who lost family members and will not be able to pay for the school year. The government is asking the schools who survived the earthquake to take a certain amount of students free of charge. It makes even harder on them because they have to worry about their own students that they cannot afford to start with.  The dead line is April 11th for them to receive the money. My goal is trying to raise $2,000 for them, feel free to send money order and check to Ramses Camy, the director of the College Mixte Lamartiniere. I am returning to Haiti in May to continue my documentary, life after the earthquake. I am planning to bring interviews and pictures to show you where your money went. I thank everyone in advance for their participation, this is a great cause and I am flattered to do this on behalf of my High School.

The race to rebuilding Haiti one school at a time! I am planning to post the amount and name of everyone who partake!

How & Why Partners In Health is the best NGO that matters in Haiti?

Dr. Paul Farmer, the founder of Partners In Health (PIH) is the greatest NGO in Haiti in the past 20 years. Partners In Health is the only NGO in Haiti who understands what Haiti needs. The country needs teachers to educate the Haitians how to fish, rather than to provide fish for them. PIH has a petition out called Stand With Haiti, I urge my readers to sign it.
Dr. Paul Farmer is looked at with respect in Haiti. He is considered a “saint” for what he has done and continues to do. To get to know a little bit about Dr. Paul Farmer, feel free to read “Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man Who Would Cure the World” by Tracy Kidder. Here is why I respect the work of Dr. Farmer; I know him personally and we dined together. I was amazed with his fluency in the Haitian Creole language and his knowledge about my homeland Haiti. He knows more than I do about Haiti, this is wild. Dr. Paul Farmer turned down great job offer after his graduation from Harvard University. Instead, he moved to Haiti, married a Haitian native, and has devoted his life to Haiti’s health. Dr. Farmer is someone who walks the walk, he is actually working in the country among the people. I have great skepticism regarding 98% of the NGOs operating in Haiti now. This is not my voice speaking here; I was in Haiti January 27, 2010 and that was the message of the Haitian community. Haitians all over the country are still without basic necessities such as food and water. Here is what I know, PIH is the only NGO who has a clear picture of what Haiti needs. PIH started with one medical clinic in Haiti and now they have more than 10 clinics. The best part is they are under Haitian supervision. What Haiti needs is not more NGOs. Do not get me wrong there are a lot of groups who indeed do a great help, but what they lack is crucial. They are misleading the nations by providing for them, instead of teaching how to be independent. Haiti needs NGOs who care to train the people of the country. The only way that Dr. Paul Farmer can spend six months overseas and six months in Haiti is because he trained the Haitians on how to take care of themselves. Haiti already has more NGOs than any other country in the western hemisphere. Have we ever wondered why? Keep following up, but voice your opinion why first!I am from Haiti, and I am a wedding and fashion photographer base in the Philadelphia area. I want to challenge myself to use my gift and talents as a way to raise awareness for my country and things that I believe in. The journey of rebuilding Haiti, going to be a long one. Remember, this the hope of Haitians is alive more than ever before.

“There is no us and them. There is only we”

03/02/2010

Journalist Lisa Armstrong of the Pulitzer Center recently blogged about a memorable service she attended at the Partners In Health/Zanmi Lasante medical facility in Cange. Read an excerpt below.

What sets PIH apart from many other organizations is the sense of solidarity with the community, which was evident when [PIH Medical Director Dr. Joia Mukherjee] and [PIH co-founder] Dr. Paul Farmer spoke at a church in Cange, a village two hours outside of Port-au-Prince, where Paul and Ophelia Dahl founded Zanmi Lasante in 1985. The service was held in a clinic waiting room, because the church itself was being used as a ward for those with shattered bones and unsalvageable limbs.

Watch part of of the Cange service below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Pv65jxfRkI&feature=player_embedded

It seems odd to be so impressed by the fact that these doctors, and all the PIH staff we met, care so deeply for the people they serve because, after all, isn’t that what doctors are supposed to do? But watching the PIH medical staff at the mobile clinics, at the general hospital, I was struck by their level of concern, by the fact that seeing patients was not simply about dispensing advice and medication. The doctors were engaged; they hugged, and laughed, and, most importantly, they listened. As Joia said to me one day, “This is not work, this is my life. It is not about us imparting our wisdom to the masses. If I am listening to you, and you are telling me something, you are teaching me something, there is an exchange. And that’s where you have solidarity rather than charity.” There is often a distinction between doctor and patient, and that separation can only become more apparent when the doctor is American and privileged, and the patient is Haitian and poor. But for these doctors, there is no us and them. There is only we.

Thanks to Journalist Lisa Armstrong.

Haiti Excluded

I found this article very fascinating and speak a lot of truth on what is going in Haiti. Stories like these are common in Haiti, feel free to voice your opinion. http://quixote.org/blog/haitis-excluded I am planning on going to Anse-Rouge sometimes in May or July, I’ll do my best to see if I can get an interview with Ruth Derilus.Cell: 610-818-5016      Email: toussaintphotography@gmail.com

Where did all the money went?

Billions of dollars donated, but earthquake survivors still hungry, homeless

04/01/2010
As of last week, donations for earthquake relief for Haiti have surpassed $2.5 billion, with another $1.2 billion pledged, according to UN reports. But this money has yet to improve the conditions on the ground for hundreds of thousands of desperate survivors. Watch the video below to learn more: http://vimeo.com/10579507

As representatives from wealthy nations gathered at the United Nations for a Donors’ Conference to pledge support for rebuilding Haiti, the importance of ensuring that donations translate into adequate shelter, food, and clean water becomes more vital.

Join Oprah Winfrey and PIH in New York City on May 9

Oprah Winfrey’s O: The Oprah Magazine recently selected Partners In Health (PIH) as one of ten organizations to benefit from the magazine’s Live Your Best Life Walk, to be held on Mother’s Day–May 9–in New York City.

The Live Your Best Life Walk was organized to commemorate O Magazine‘s tenth anniversary. Over 30,000 walkers and fundraisers are expected to be on hand, along with a variety of television and musical personalities, including PIH Medical Director Joia Mukherjee.

Walkers are encouraged to use the walk as a chance to fundraise for one of Oprah’s favorite nonprofit organizations, including PIH. All funds raised on PIH’s behalf will help support their programs in Haiti.

“Mother’s Day is not only an important occasion to recognize the strength and love of mothers across the globe, but also a time to reflect on mothers and children in need,” said Joia Mukherjee, who will be representing PIH at the walk. “On May 9, we will walk, sing, and come together to show our support, in solidarity and great hope, for the mothers of Haiti and all her people “

PIH I am planning on being at that walk with PIH. I understand the work that they are doing in Haiti. I urge you to join us!

Yin & Micheal Engagement Shoot

I met Yin and Micheal at University of UPenn yesterday for their engagement shoot. Michael is an Alum from UPenn here fore he knows the campus really well. I was so amazed by Yin and Michael unique style. They are very classic and quiet, but once I start snapping, they transformed. It was great to meet them in Philadelphia to share such a great moment with them. Love it! You guys ROCKS the show!

Yin and Michael  met at a happy hour event at RAW sushi and lounge.  I was hanging out when Michael came over to talk to one of my friends that he knew.  I saw him and immediately noticed his gorgeous curly hair.  I thought it’s really peculiar because Asians don’t usually have curly hair like that.  So I approached him and asked if his hair is natural.  We struck up a great conversation and the rest is history! Wow!

Salvatation Army Food Drive For Haiti at Drexel University

On May 22-23  under the direction of Salvation Army, B 101, Numana, UPS, and Stop Hunger Now joined together to pack a million meals to send to Haiti. I was home watching the NBC good news section. They mentioned that they needed more volunteers. I called my friend Summer Hempton who just got back from Haiti and we drove to Philadelphia together. It was very moving to see the amount of people who came in the effort to pack a million meals for my homeland, Haiti. It is important for me to let everyone know the need for help in Haiti is now. I present you, ladies and gents, Mana and Jon Potoka. Mana was indeed a very passionate bride; she booked her day 15-18 months in advance to be safe. I was blessed to be part of their day. Book Your Free Engagement Shoot!

If you just got engaged, I would love to congratulate you. It is a nice journey of your life. Remember, my advice is to be flexible and open minded. What do I mean by that? There are ways that couples can save money, first highlight one aspect of your wedding that you would love to be “chick” it can be your dress, the flowers, the food, the music, perhaps the ride, the decor, whatever it is try to make it your best by investing a great amount of money in it. When you are choosing a location, it can save thousands if you get married the day after a previous wedding, because you can use some of their decoration and the hotels does not have to do a lot. Getting married on a Friday or Sunday could save you a lot even in photography. The best option in my opinion is asking a friend who has a nice house if you could have your reception at their place. The possibility for them to say yes is high, if they say no do not take it personal. When choosing flowers and cake, tell them you are after an anniversary flowers and cake. The word “anniversary” is key to save hundreds; when vendors hear the word wedding everything changes.
Being engaged is a great phase of your life and it should be fun, be realistic with your friends because they do not owe you to be at your wedding bridal party, be flexible, because there is no norm when it comes to wedding photography. If there would be a norm it would the be one that you are thinking of doing and believe people will not like it. The primary reason of your wedding is your future spouse period. I advise not to go crazy on cost and have to pay lots of money after the wedding. This can be the most wonderful day of your life based on how you plan it. Trust me it is easy to go  crazy on cost.
As your photographer, my commitment to you is that you are my only client, therefore, I will not schedule two events in the same day. I am open and never too busy to share my opinions with your planning. Building a relationship with you is a priority, this is the best way to get acquainted, our aim is to get to know you well. The best way to capture you and your fiancee is by understanding each other. After all, this day is very unique; this is why we kick it off with a free engagement session. I do not shoot a wedding unless I get along with my subjects.
Wedding experiences include coverage on your wedding day, a “get to know you” engagement session, and the travel fees to your wedding here in the US. If you are getting married overseas? No problem–I love to travel and I studied in France.  Not only do I accept but strongly encourage travel, no location is too far. Feel free to shoot me an email or a call to talk about your big day.  I will do my best to make the process as simple and fun as possible!!

I am Toussaint, Ulysse and I live in the Main Line in Philadelphia. I love the Philadelphia region because it is very unique for the history, the unique antique look and great restaurants. Photography is such an amazing medium, as a photographer you have a lot of responsibility when you are shooting an event. I love shooting anything that has life in it. We know that everything created by God does have life in it. My best subjects are indeed mt brides, engaged couples, high school seniors, and boudoir. I love shooting weddings in the city of Philadelphia. It is such a great city, full of life and histories!

Main Line Fashion Photographer

All of us have our own sense of fashion, what most of us do not realize is the fashion industry is always looking for inspiration. What we are wearing on the street; the colors, the stripes and the shades that we feel at ease. What is fashion? Well fashion is what and how the person in question defines it. What am I saying? There is a sense of fashion in all of us. Fashion is what we wear, but how we feel in what we wear. Realistically, what we have the choice to choose our fashion and in return our fashion defines us. What is your fashion sense?  I am wedding and fashion photographer living in the Philadelphia region. I enjoy what I do and it is lots of fun.

I am Ulysse Toussaint, born and raised in Haiti. Believe it or not fashion is in the blood of every Haitian. We take pride in what we wear and how we wear it. As a wedding, fashion & boudoir photographer, fashion is part of my DNA. My subject is fashion to me, the way I frame them through my lense is a reflection on how I see their best fashion. My duty is make sure I capture their beauty so that everyone can embrace the true identity of my subjects. As a photographer, can I afford to miss that moment? OR does it really matter? Absolutely yes, I would not want someone to write a story about me in New York Times if it was not accurate. Why should I or how can I let my clients down? They put their trust in me.  When you are getting married and you are on the quest for a great fashion photographer in the Main Line region, Toussaint Photography is open to give you free fashion advice.  The sense of fashion is inside all of us, I use the same tactic to address models, brides, musicians, actors, politicians, pastors and more. My goal is to make sure your fashion can reveal who you are. We are not just your average photographer but a wedding photographer that can help you with your sense of fashion to look  your best.

It is not about Kenneth Cole; It’s about freedom in Egypt!

Who is Kenneth Cole? I think a better question is who does not have a KC sense inside of them? What is a KC sense? A KC sense is the DNA of doing and standing for what we all believe is right and just. When we speak our minds and do what is right this is KC sense. Who am I to give Kenneth Cole such a title? Kenneth Cole is by far to the most open minded designer that ever walked on the face of the earth. We will continue to stand by you Kenneth Cole because we have seen and lived your true sense of humanitarianism. What you stand for is more important that what you TWEET out. You are always standing by us. Today is our time to stand by you. Kenneth Cole is by far the best designer activist in modern history.  Frankly, we all have KC sense, therefore, there is a Kenneth Cole in all of us. Do not get me wrong, I do not support the tweet of  Kenneth Cole, but I do stand by Kenneth Cole the person. Quite frankly, he came short regarding the timing and how he said it. What I have a problem with is many of us are outraged about Kenneth Cole tweet than what really happening on the ground of Egypt. We have press member who have been killed and bitten because they want to share with all of us what is happening over there. We would not know this if it was not for brave journalist who put their lives in the front line. My concerns is how could we choose to make a big deal of Kenneth Cole’s tweet when there are bigger problems at hand, such as the freedom of the press and the safety of the Egyptians for standing up for what is right and just? My point is, this is not the time to navigate away from the real issue. I remember when Pat Robertson made a non human comment about Haiti right after the earthquake. It irked me when I heard him talking so much nonsense. I still forgive him because he does not know any better. I may not be Egyptian but I do know how critical it is to focus on what the Egyptians are fighting for, which is “FREEDOM”- this is not the time to move away from current issues. Show me someone who does not make a mistakes or say something wrong, and I’ll show you someone who does not care about anything.

Am I Egyptian to speak on their behalf? Well, I am Haitian, one year ago my country was hit by a 7.0 earthquake that killed close to half million people. Kenneth Cole was there to show his support on behalf of my people, through the t-shirt “Hope Help Heal Haiti.” During Katrina he was there to be a voice for the people of New Orleans, through the t-shirt ” We stand bayou.” During 9/11 he was already in New York City reminding us that what  “What we stand for , is more important that what we stand in” He stood for HIV through the “We all have AIDS” campaign. What is my KC sense saying? Well it is telling me that we are all called to make mistakes, and we forgive the words of Kenneth Cole. I applaud the voice of the Egyptians, I hope my country Haiti would follow their footsteps as we also need a better government to represent the Haitias people. Please continue to pray for Egypt, they will overcome. Congrats to Becca and Dan

I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest to the wedding of my best friend’s sister. Charlotte Moyer and I have been great friends for a few years. In fact she was the first person to test me when the earthquake struck my country Haiti. I have to say right after this major catastrophe our friendship grew. I was not supposed to be working at that wedding, but as a photographer it is just in you. These images are for you Charlotte. You are a remarkable friend!

Becca is originally from the Paoli area. It is located in portions of two townships of Chester county: Tredyffrin and Willistown. It has a total population of 5,425. This Philadelphia area wedding photographer fell in love with the beautiful town. I love the community and it is a great place to meet great brides. Beca is currently living in New York City with her husband, Dan.

Jenn&Dave’s wedding, The Inn at Saint Peter’s Village.

Toussaint Photography would love to congratulate Jennifer and David on behalf of their wedding. I was so privileged to be part of such a great day. I was very skeptical when David and Jenn told me they did not want any posed pictures. Are you for real my friend? I am able to easily meet my clients needs, therefore, it was not a problem at all. They wanted their family and friends to have a great time and wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. I thank you Jenn and Dave.
As a wedding photographer living on the Main Line of Philadelphia, I am blessed to work at great locations such as a the Inn at Saint Peter’s Village. From their own words: “Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of French Creek, this is where you will find The Inn at St. Peter’s Village. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Inn at St. Peter’s was created in 1881 by Dave Knauer.”

Congrats to Leah & David

Our story begins after several dating relationships that were not headed towards marriage. We both decided to give online dating a try. We started talking on match.com on June 1, 2010. Our first date was June 12 at an ice cream shop in Lancaster. The whole night felt like a romance movie. Neither of us had ever felt such chemistry with anyone before. Total fireworks! After a year of dating, David proposed to me in a quiet clearing in the woods while on a walk at a local park. Everything about the proposal was perfect! He told me that after our first date, he knew he had met his future wife. The ring is a gorgeous, round solitaire in a platinum setting with engravings. We have never been happier and look forward to getting married at Willow Valley on April 21, 2012!

We are Toussaint Photography and we are located in the Philadelphia region. We have been working with brides in the region of the brotherly love. We were at the University of Pennsylvania for Leah and David’s shoot. We hope you enjoy the ride.
